At the Streetlight

At the Streetlight:

Written in summer 2020, but finished October 26, 2020.

Yellow—
That color betwixt grass and fire,
Emblem of morn's hope and sundry storm,
Seeps into my vision,
Causing panic,
Urging decision,
Arousing memory.

Bump bump—
Stay or go?
Gallop gallop—
Sound the riven roads,
Whether forked or straight,
But never answer.
Silence echoes within.

In every yellow lamp, I see
A mirror held to nature;
As it were, choices arise—
Consequences ensue,
People change,
Regardless of rank,
As on, all on, life's journey.

“A Penny for Your Thoughts”

“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.”
